Ex-governor of Alaska and former vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin announced last Tuesday that she is endorsing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump for 2016 US Presidential Election. This happened during the Trump campaign event at Iowa State University in Ames.
As an official announcement of her endorsement, Palin described Trump as someone prepared to let the US troop "kick Isis' ass", wherein she used another name for the self-styled Islamic State group. She further spoke of Trump to be beholden to no one but the people, said BBC News.
"We are ready for a change... He (Trump) is perfectly positioned to let you make America great again," she added.
As for Trump, he told his supports how 'greatly honored' he is to receive Palin's backing. He said that ever since day one, Palin was the woman he knew he would need to get support from. Thus, this makes the New York businessman the Republican contender who has the highest-profile backer so far in the presidential race, according to Fox News.
Palin came to fame when she became a Tea Party movement symbol that followed that presidential election in 2008. She also has an influential conservative voice until now, in spite of retiring from politics to pursue a media career. Most importantly, she was the running mate of John McCain back in 2008 when they lost to President Barack Obama.
With this, it seems like the odds are in Trump's favor as last Tuesday, he received another endorsement from Aissa Wayne, the daughter of the deceased famous film actor John Wayne. She described him as a strong and brave leader like her father, who she believes to be needed by the country. She added that if her father was still alive, he would surely support Trump, The Independent reported.
As of now, it is still uncertain whether Palin's blessing on Trump will create a big impact on the presidential candidate's prospects. But since Palin has cultivated several relationships in Iowa, she could be helpful to him in drawing in more supporters.
