Amanda Knox Update: Slandering police and legal officials case cleared

By

Amanda Knox has been cleared of one of her slander cases, which was the one in line with the British student Meredith Kercher's murder. Aside from allegedly getting involved in the killing, she has slandered police officers and a prosecutor who's part of the 2007 investigation of the crime.

The Guardian reported that Knox has already served a four-year imprisonment for allegedly taking part in Kercher's murder, which happened to be her roommate while they were still students in Perugia, Italy. She was then released on appeal and just last year, she was proven not guilty.

This was because according to The Japan Times, biological traces were absolutely lacking even from the start, implying Knox and now former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were not in the room nor had any physical contact with the victim's body. Thus, the Court of Cassation issued a formal written explanation as requirement of Italian law to clear Knox and Sollecito once and for all in Kercher's murder case.

Further, had the court upheld 2014 appeals court convictions of Knox and his ex-boyfriend, both of them would suffer a sentence more than 20 years. Sollecito would have been in prison for 25 years while Knox would have to face 28 ½ years in an Italian cell, Toronto Sun stated

Good thing that was over. Now, Knox has yet to face other legal cases. Despite the recent clearing she experienced for slandering police officers and legal officials, she still has a remaining one. Apparently, the 28-year-old woman has yet to be cleared of convictions for slandering a Congolese bar owner who she blamed for Kercher's death.

Later on, she then revealed that it was out of pressure that is why she pointed fingers at the bar owner. She felt threatened that she was being interrogated, stating she was slapped, yelled at and threatened by police. This comment of hers was the one that led her to have slander charges. But Florence decided that the comment didn't constitute otherwise.

Right now, Knox is happily working as a Journalist in her hometown, Seattle. Her lawyers said that she was very happy with the acquittal.
