Rocket League February Patch to Add Cool 'Item Qualities' Feature, Uncommon Items, Rewards for Competition Winners and More

By

Rocket League will receive a new February patch and this one will be rewarding those players who did well in the first season of the game's competition. Also, a cool new feature, uncommon items and a lot more come with the upcoming patch next month.

Rewards will be given to who got to the "Bronze" Division of the competition or higher in the ladderized Ranked Play. The rewards will be in the form of Limited Edition Crowns in bronze, silver, gold and platinum variants that players can equip their battle car in its 'toppers' slot, describes Rocket League's Steam page.

These will be based on the players' highest Division rank at the time when Season 1 ends. For example, if a player was 'Silver II' in 1v1 and 'Gold I' in 2v2, the delivered Crown would be Gold."

Another addition to the upcoming patch is the introduction of cool feature called "Item Qualities." This time, 'Items' will now have a "Quality" tag and color that can be identified everytime the Item is dropped or viewed in the Garage.

The Item Qualities are described below:

  • Common (Grey) - Stock items. All the items you've come to love!
  • Premium (Green) - Items acquired from paid DLC
  • Limited (Orange) - Items acquired in seasonal or limited time promotional events, like Halloween.

The new patch will also introduce a brand new item quality, the "Uncommon" light blue colored Items that can only be found after the player completes online-only matches. The players' chances of getting this uncommon item increases the longer he plays.

Here's how the 'Uncommon Item' works, according to the Steam page:

"One interesting thing to note is that the new 'Uncommon Items' drop-rate won't have a fixed percentage like the seasonal items do. Instead, your chances of getting an 'Uncommon Item' increases the longer you play the game. After earning an Uncommon Item, the time then resets and you start all over again in your quest to get another one. This should give players who spend a lot of time playing some sweet new loot to accompany them along the way."

Psyonix encourages the Rocket League fans to visit their Facebook and Twitter on Friday, January 22, where they will be posting details about Competitive Play changes for the Season 2.

Rocket League is vehicle soccer video game developed and published by Psyonix that was released on July 7 for PC/Steam and PS4. A release on Xbox One is scheduled for next month.
