Apple is expected to release a slew of new gadgets for 2016. Apple fans await the launch of the iPad Air 3, Apple Watch 2, iPhone 7, iPhone 6C, 2016 MacBook Air, and 2016 MacBook Pro.
iPad Air 3
Apple is expected to update its line of tablets in 2016 with the iPad Air 3. According to InformationWeek, the iPad Air 3 will feature the latest Apple A9X processor. Other features believed to come with the upcoming device are a 9.7" 4K resolution screen display, better battery life, 13MP primary camera, and a 5MP selfie snapper. The iPad Air 3 could come in two variants with 2GB and 4GB RAM.
KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that 3D Touch will not be available in the iPad Air 3 due to production problems. However, the tablet is said to have Apple Pencil support.
The iPad is considered one of the most successful tablets worldwide, although reports show that tablet sales have declined. Apple will need to step up marketing strategies for its tablet line to keep sales up. Rumors say that the iPad Air 3 will launch together with the Apple Watch 2 in March.
Apple Watch 2
9to5Mac wrote in a blog post that the Apple Watch 2 will start production this month. The Apple Watch 2 is expected to come with a FaceTime Video camera and more health-related functionalities. Apple could also introduce a mid-range version of the smartwatch in addition to affordable and premium variants.
iPhone 7 and iPhone 6C
Every year, Apple updates its smartphone line which leads many to believe that there will be an iPhone 7 to launch in 2016. The touted iPhone 7 will succeed the iPhone 6 and feature a waterproof and dustproof build, wireless charging capability, and better screen resolution.
ValueWalk reported that a 4" iPhone dubbed as the iPhone 6C or 7C could be in the works. The iPhone 6C will be a much cheaper version of the iPhone and will carry a smaller screen size.
MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 2016
New rumors on the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air 2016 say that the new Apple laptops could run on solar power and the latest Intel Skylake processors, as per an earlier report by Lawyer Herald. The new MacBooks are expected to have a sleeker, thinner build than its predecessors. There could also be a 12" variant in addition to the 13" and 15" models.
Others speculate that Apple will refresh the iPad Mini line or the iPad Pro in 2016. The Cupertino-based giant has not specified a release date for these devices, though many believe that Apple will launch on March.
