Senator Bernie Sanders Continues Lawsuit Against Democratic National Committee But Not Actively

By

Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders will not pursue his lawsuit against Democratic National Committee. However, he will keep the case open just in case DNC backslides.

Washington Times stated that Sen. Bernie Sanders said to a federal court Friday he will not actively chase the lawsuit but he will also not close it. DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz suspended Mr. Sanders from the right to use the party's voter files last month. She explained that his staffers were caught taking advantage of a computer breakdown to spy through opponent presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's files on the DNC's system. Mr. Sanders apologized for the actions of his staff but said Ms. Schultz had no authority to instantaneously suspend his own right of entry. He then sued DNC and declared that DNC had violated his contract for data access.

UPI said that last week, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan inquired for a status report about the case. Sanders' campaign answered and said they are still in deliberations with the DNC, according to court documents. They are not aiming to give out the suit for now. Though, the campaign said the suit will push through if the argument cannot be resolute cordially.

Jeff Weaver, Sanders' campaign manager, said if the DNC will not return the campaign's access to voter records it will end in a legal action. DNC reinstated the access to the voter data the following day. But regardless of the reinstatement the campaign has not withdrawn the suit.

Inquisitr reported on the incident last year saying on December 18, Bernie Sanders campaign has called for an autonomous investigation of a data breach. The incident endangered his campaign and his national data director, Josh Uretsky was terminated because of it.

A possible glitch happened to the system which resulted in Democratic campaigns limited access to rival's voter data. Before, the DNC blocked the investigations from happening. Now, they reached a deal to settle things with but the lawsuit is still going on.
