Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and the city of Flint are facing a lawsuit. The plaintiffs are saying there is disregard in the Flint water crisis. They also added that the Consumer Act is being violated as they stated that the water was drinkable even though it was not.
Plaintiffs Doris Collins, Robin Pleasant and Jason Phinisee claim to have suffered injury from drinking the contaminated water said Click on Detroit. They named Gov. Rick Snyder, the state of Michigan, the city of Flint, former Flint emergency financial manager Darnell Earley (who is the current emergency manager for Detroit Public Schools), Howard Croft and "all others similarly situated" as defendants. The city changed its water supply as a result of cost cutting back in 2014.
9 and 10 News stated the complainants are from the city itself. They complained that even though the water is contaminated they are still being asked to pay for it. Corrosion is the cause of the contamination of the water. Lead has leak and that flowed because of the corrosion. There were parts that were tested and they were all positive. Legionnaires' disease has also increased because of the incident. Many anxious citizens are flocking the health department of a certain county.
According to Daily Caller the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) top Midwest officials knew the crisis months before publicizing it. EPA official Susan Hedman did not tell it to the public the danger it brings. Instead, for six months, EPA silently fought with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality over the possibilities of solving the problem.The problem was identified last February and was confirmed last April. He then, sends an internal memo in June.
The residents are still suffering from the contaminated drinking water. Now, the citizens of the city are drinking distilled water and are buying bottled waters to suffice their needs.
