As reported by Tech Radar, Spotify signed on a deal with Genius to add new interactive features. Instead of simple album art when streaming a song, Spotify has a new feature that includes lyrics, artist commentary, and trivia about the track.

The new feature is currently available in iOS devices and is also expected to be available in Android devices soon. According to Latin Post, the new features are currently being previewed in selected Spotify playlists including the Behind the Lyrics: Hip Hop.

It will not be limited to handsets as well since it is also available on the web. The user simply has to install the app to the desktop and find a track that is supported by the feature. Afterwards, the "Watch Fast Track" simply needs to be clicked with the Spotify button.

While not all tracks is supported by this feature as of now, some songs that work with the new feature are the Usher- Climax, T.I.- Broadcast Live, The Game-100, Rick Ross- Sorry, R. City- Make Up, and Nelly- The Fix.

According to re/code, Spotify also released customized playlist for Pusha T, Diplo, and Tinashe. It is also expected to launch the 'Behind the Lyrics (Hits) for Top 40-style music as well. The new feature by Genius is the next innovation by Spotify after the 'Discover' music playlist which is a set of songs compiled by a computer based on the songs the user listens to.

Spotify is in competition against Apple's music streaming platform dubbed 'Apple Music' which recently reached the $10 million mark. The latter is a paid service for $10 a month. Last year, Spotify announced that they've reached 20 million subscribers.
