Manny Pacquia is about to face his last boxing opponent in the MGM Grand ring in April against Timothy Bradley. Jr. The Filipino boxing icon said that he's aiming for a knockout in the next game, and dismissed rumors about a potential bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Pacquiao and Bradley are heading for a third bout against each other in what has been confirmed to be the former's last fight. As reported by The Ring magazine, Pacquiao stated that he's aiming for the next fight to be a knock out.
"I'm trying to have a knockout in that fight," Pacquiao said "I'm not saying to predict the fight, but I'm trying to do my best so the people enjoy my last fight." He also added that he doesn't believe that Bradley's new trainer Teddy Atlas would make a huge difference in their upcoming fight. "I know his style and I have to prepare for that", Pacquiao claimed.
As reported by Christian Today, Pacquiao also confirmed that the upcoming fight will be his last, dismissing rumors that he is willing to suspend or get out of retirement to have another match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. He said that he wishes to focus on his political career after his fight, as he is now aiming for a higher position as a senator in the Philippines.
Pacquiao's fight against Mayweather ended in favor of Mayweather via unanimous decision. Pacquiao and his camp also eventually disclosed that he fought with a rotator cuff injury which affected his movements for which he underwent a surgery a few days after the fight.
According to International Business Times, Pacquiao is guaranteed to $20 million for his last fight which is $140 million dollars less compared to his payment in the previous fight. The $20 million fight purse was confirmed by his promoter, Bob Arum.
Bradley and Pacquiao have previously fought inside the ring twice which earned them a win each. For the next bout, Pacquiao is aiming to get Bradley's World Boxing Organization (WBO) Welterweight Title. He currently has a record of 57-6-2 with 38 knockouts.
