Tupac Biopic Movie 'All Eyez On Me' added new star with its cast. Danai Gurira has joined the cast as Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur.
Indie Wire reported that the "Walking Dead" star accepted the offer and will be in the movie. She will be joining the new comer Demetrius Shipp, Jr. who, last month, was cast to play Tupac Shakur. Benny Boom will direct the movie replacing Carl Franklin. Moreover, Jamal Woolard will play Biggie who also plays as him in the "Notorious" film. With Gurira's busy schedule, she still made space for this film and the shoot will start in Atlanta.
According to EW, Kat Graham will portray Jada Pinkett-Smith. The "Vampire Diaries" star will be playing as Tupac's long-time friend in the film. Before Tupac died in 1996, he was a close friend of Jada since high school.
A collection of poem was found after his death and one of the poems was dedicated to her, titled "Jada". Cinema Blend said that a book "The Rose That Grew from Concrete" in 2009 was published and a poem titled "The Tears in Cupid's Eyes" was dedicated to her.
Though this film has encountered many barriers when being made, it will finally push through. In 2009, Shakur's mother, Afeni Shakur, filed a lawsuit against the production. Good thing, it has been resolved and she is no part of the film as an executive producer. "All Eyez on Me" is the title of Tupac's fourth studio album and the film adopted it for the title. The film will follow the rapper's escalation to stardom.
Though the film has not set any release date, it will be distributed by Open Road. The Morgan Creek Productions film will produce it.
