2013's biggest monster film director, Guillermo Del Toro, speaks up about the setbacks in the sequel to the science fiction film. Moreover, Del Toro told the fans of the movie that there's a casting call in which a remarkable actress has emerged.

After series of setbacks that postponed the Pacific Rim 2's production last September, Mexican director Guillermo Del Toro is still not sure whether the sequel will be coming out sooner but assured the fans that the anticipated movie will be happening. According to Franchise Herald, Del Toro tweeted in October that though the budget and script was passed on, there are still no answers from the Warner Bros. Moreover, he assured the fans that if anything shall happen, he'll let them know and if nothing, he'll just keep on "rambling" the studio. Fans will be then waiting for the next tweet of the director regarding the studio's decision in continuing the success of kaiju-themed movie.

Addition to this, if the production team for the sequel will be given the go signal, a Game of Thrones actress will be joining Charlie Hunnam, who will reprise his role of Raleigh Becket. The AV Club reported that Massie William, known as Arya Stark in HBO's drama series Game of Thrones, has been the apple of the eye for the director's possible sequel. He even tweeted about the lunch they've had and said that she is getting a Jaeger, big mecha robots in the film. After meeting the director, Williams also discussed some matters with the staff of the film. Lastly, Del Toro praised Williams stating that she's a remarkable one.

Lastly, the director also disclosed some information regarding the future of the franchise after confirming the sequel. Crossmap claimed that Del Toro wanted to continue the legacy of Pacific Rim into an animated series partnered with tie-in comic books that he intended to do shortly after releasing the main film. Furthermore, the comic book will be entitled "Pacific Rim: Tales from the Drift" and its first issue has been released last November 4.

Pacific Rim 2 is the sequel to the science fiction monster movie of 2013 between human's Jaegers and Kaijus, colossal monsters from other dimension. It proved to be a hit-film after its box office success of $490 million but the sequel is still lying in the dark. But the director stated that it is just a delay and that the film will be happening. Lastly, Massie Williams is being eyed for a role in the sequel. Pacific Rim's release date is still vague but fans have been speculating that Jaegers will return in 2017.
