Guy Ritchie’s Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur won’t hit theatres until 2017

Upcoming epic drama film Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur has been pushed back for a Presidents Day Weekend release due to certain reasons. Moreover, actor portraying main character provided details regarding what the audience shall expect.

The legendary hero, King Arthur, is now being delivered to big screens with a different treatment for the character by Charlie Hunnam and director Guy Ritchie but the audience won't be seeing it until 2017. According to Deadline, though the film is untitled, the King Arthur film will be released on February 17, 2017. This is due to being a part of plan to capitalize on kids during winter break holidays especially in Europe since King Arthur is a British folk hero. This is months of delay from the original slated release of July 22, 2016. Moreover, the studio is hoping that they'll see similar success on the winter release because Guy Ritchie's former sensational films such as The Kingsman: The Secret Service and Sherlock Holmes series hit the theatres on that season.

However, it seems that the anticipated film will be battling sequels of spectacular films wherein their fans are waiting. The Fashion Style indicated that King Arthur will contest the opening weekend with two sequel movies. Sony's Bad Boys 3 and 20th Century Fox's Maze Runner: The Death Cure are also declared for the 2017 release. The director remarked that this would be in trying to make the King Arthur character "bland and nice" and vice versa.

On the other hand, lead actor to portray the hero of Britain against invading Saxons has detailed some information regarding the treatment of King Arthur. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Charlie Hunnam revealed that the king will be portrayed differently than the previous version of films. The actor said that "He's a little bit rough around the edges, but he's basically a survivor. He's a hustler," indicating the personality in which his character will have. He also added that audience should expect a harder "edge" to him since it will be a classic "Guy Ritchie stuff."

The Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur is the first film in a series of six by Warner Bros. Pictures. Subsequent ones will be determined if the film is commercially successful. Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, Jude Law, Djimon Honsou, Katie McGrath and Charlie Hunnam will be featured to the epic drama film. Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur will be released on internationally starting February 17, 2017.
