Vin Diesel's science fiction action series, Riddick, will get its fourth instalment that would focus on the main characters' origin. Moreover, since the story of Riddick is being talked all over, the film series created by David Twohy might get a TV series spin-off.

After the third instalment of Riddick in 2013, fans have been speculating for the return of series protagonist, Richard B. Riddick and Vin Diesel is there to spook the fans with something. According to Screen Junkies, the one man marketing machine has recently revealed in his Instagram that he's working with David Twohy on the new Riddick movie. The video indicated that the film will receive a titular name of "Furia," the home planet of the protagonist that made it an origins story. After this, fans contemplated that they'll have an understanding on how Riddick went on to become one of the most wanted universal fugitives.

Moreover, not only the fourth Riddick film was introduced in the webcast by Diesel and Twohy, as they teased the fans with Merc City. The Movie Web reported that a TV show spin-off is being considered for the franchise. Also, Vin Diesel's production company, One Race Films, will be collaborating with NBC and has signed with Universal Television wherein the TV series will be developed. However, there are still no talks if the Merc City will be connected to the big screen adventures.

Lastly, though a confirmation has been given to the fans, the actor also stated that filming won't start until 2017. In an article written by Christian Today, Diesel explained on his Facebook page that it would talk atleast 12 months before he is prepared for production of the film. This is due to being a fresh dad to his third child, Pauline and that he'll need time to take the role of a father.

Riddick 4 is the fourth instalment in the science fiction action series that starred Vin Diesel since 2000. The upcoming film will get a new treatment as it would be a prequel and will tell the origins of the protagonist but production won't start until 2017. Moreover, Vin Diesel also confirmed that there is an ongoing TV series adaptation for the story but still not sure if it's connected to the film story. Riddick 4 isn't set for any release dates but David Twohy confirmed that it'll be an R Rated film.
