Speculations also emerged of director Christopher Nolan's involvement but a new update revealed that he was not involved in the new film in any way.

According to GameSpot, Miller was offered to helm the planned live-action adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo's animated science-fiction film first released on July 1988. Another article by Den of Geek reported that Miller was also under negotiations with Warner Bros to helm a possible DC film in the future. He admitted, "There have been conversations, yes... in amongst many other things too. I've got a fairly full dance card and I've just got to figure out... well, basically it's the stories that tell me. Something will take a hold."

Miller is best known for his work on several science-fiction and fantasy films including the 'Mad Max' cinematic franchise, 'Twilight Zone: The Movie', 'The Witches of Eastwick' and 'Babe'. He also wrote, directed and produced the critically-acclaimed drama film 'Lorenzo's Oil', which was nominated for two Academy Awards.

Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan of 'Inception', 'Interstellar' and 'The Dark Knight' fame was previously speculated to be attached to direct the upcoming film.
