'The Jungle Book' is a live-action film based on Rudyard Kipling's collection of stories of the same name. A new image released by Empire featured Lupita Nyong'o's wolf Raksha locked in an embrace with adoptive son Mowgli, played by young newcomer Neel Sethi.

A new image of Lupita Nygong'o's tender Indian wolf made rounds online after it was exclusively released by Empire. The still showing Nyong'o's Raksha and Neel Sethi's Mowgli in an emotional embrace is part of the magazine's February issue. Raksha plays Mowgli's adoptive mother while Giancarlo Esposito's Akela is his adoptive father.

According to /Film, the new image gives audiences a closer look at the CGI-animated wolf since it seemed she wasn't featured in the previously released official trailer. Raksha was first introduced in Rudyard Kipling's collection of stories, 'The Jungle Book', published in 1894. She is a wolf who decided to adopt a human "cub" that her mate found in the jungle.

The upcoming fantasy-adventure live-action adaptation is directed by Jon Favreau of 'Iron Man' fame. According to Inside the Magic, Favreau originally wanted to premiere the film on 2015 but was prompted to push back the release date in favor of completing seamless animation. Joining Oscar-winner Nygong'o are Idris Elba, Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley and Christopher Walken.

Favreau's new take on the classic story will follow the adventures of a young boy forced to leave his jungle home after a ferocious tiger threatens his life. He is accompanied by his friends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the black panther as he goes on a life-changing journey where he meets new and potentially dangerous creatures.

'The Jungle Book' is an upcoming 3D live-animation fantasy film based on the collection of stories by Rudyard Kipling. It is a remake of Walt Disney Production's 1967 animated feature of the same name and is directed by Jon Favreau based on a screenplay by Justin Marks. It is scheduled to be released on April 15, 2017 in the United States.
