Fans who are following Star Trek Beyond heard the rumor that William Shatner would be making a cameo as the old ex-captain of the U.S.S Enterprise. Now, ever since the movie began its production, fans heard little if nothing about William Shatner doing a cameo, but latest news on Star Trek Beyond reports that the actor will not be joining the young guns.
William Shatner has responded and gave answers as to whether or not he might be included in Star Trek Beyond, and the news doesn't sound too promising. William Shatner told SFX Magazine that 'there was never a conversation'. The iconic actor claims that he had no involvement in the preliminary plans and he was not contacted by the studios during pre-production. William Shatner confirmed that the rumors are not true that he'd appear as the original James T. Kirk together with its rebooted starship captain's Chris Pine.
The speculations started when producer J.J Abrams was heard that he approached William Shatner about being part of the cast in Star Trek Beyond. J.J Abrams directed Star Trek back in 2009 and then the sequel Star Trek Into Darkness. J.J Abrams promised in those movies that he would retain the atmosphere of Star Trek's original series in 1966. The director did this by bringing Leonard Nimoy back to reprise his role as Spoke, the Old Spock, or Spock Prime. Ever since Leonard Nimoy appeared in Star Trek, fans demanded that William Shatner should also appear in one of the contemporary Star Trek movies.
William Shatner said in his interview that it would have been interesting to see that their fertile imaginations could have done with somebody who is 20 years older than when Captain Kirk died in Star Trek: Generation and how they would have explained the difference in appearance. The actor then added, "I'm sure they must have thought of it one time or another but I never had a substantial conversation about replaying the role."
The actor almost made it into 2009's Star Trek reboot. It was reported that one of the script drafts contained a scene where Spock Prime gives the new Spock a pendant that contained a holographic Kirk Prime. The Scene was never filmed. William Shatner last wore the Starfleet uniform in Star Trek: Generations, which was released back in 1994. Can you handle the fact that William Shatner will not be included in the latest Star Trek Beyond? Tell us what you think.
