‘Kong: Skull Island’ News: Brie Larson gets new rap name from Jason Mitchell; Actress doesn’t see herself an “IT girl”

'Kong: Skull Island' is an upcoming film in the King Kong franchise. Actress Brie Larson received her own rap name "Young Brie" from fellow actor Jason Mitchell. Despite winning several accolades for her latest work in 'Room', she still doesn't consider herself an "it girl".

During an interview with Deadline, Mitchell described his relationship with co-star Brie Larson saying that he considers her a friend even off-screen. He said, "We get along. We kick it on our days off. I think we're both kind of in the same place mentally where we're not caught up on the hype of it or none of that. We're still at a super-homey point. No matter how much people talk about awards stuff, we still love it so much that everyday matters, every moment matters to us. It's dope working with somebody like that." He added that he has given her the rap name "Young Brie".

Mitchell is best known for his portrayal of American rapper Eazy-E in F. Gary Gray's critically-acclaimed biographical drama film 'Straight Outta Compton'. The film is about the rise and fall of hip-hop group N.W.A. with its title is derived from the group's debut studio album released in 1988.

Larson, on the other hand, has worked on several feature films and eventually landed her breakthrough role in 2013's 'Short Term 12'. She went on to earn several accolades including those for her work in the 2015 thriller-drama 'Room' where she received a nomination for a Golden Globe for Best Actress. She also starred in 'The Spectacular Now', 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World', 'Don Jon' and 'Trainwreck'.

Despite her overwhelming success, she doesn't consider herself an "It Girl". According to UPI, the 26-year old actress prefers to stay grounded when it came to fame. She said, "It's so weird. I think it's a really funny term. I'm just a person. I'm not anything!"

According to Dread Central, Brie and Mitchell are joined by Tom Hiddleston, Toby Kebbell, Samuel L. Jackson, and John Goodman in the new film. The upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts based on a screenplay by Max Borenstein, Derek Connolly, John Gatins and Dan Gilroy. Alex Garcia and Eric McLeod are executive producing while Jon Jashni, Mary Parent and Thomas Tull will serve as producers.

'Kong: Skull Island' is scheduled to be released on March 10, 2017. It is independent from Peter Jackson's 2005 reboot 'King Kong' and will focus on King Kong's home island and origins.
