'The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' recently revealed its first image featuring young actress Madison Wolfe as a haunted child. A new report speculated that the sequel will have ties to Ed and Lorraine Warren's famous investigation of the Amityville hauntings.
The first photograph posted on Entertainment Weekly shows Wolfe clad in a red sleeping gown and pale with fear. Wolf plays Janet, one of the children haunted by a poltergeist. Frances O'Connor plays Peggy Hodgson, Janet's mother. Lauren Esposito, Patrick McAuley and Benjamin Haigh play the rest of O'Connor's onscreen children.
Director James Wan revealed, "The haunting that afflicted the Hodgson family is probably one of the most documented paranormal cases in the world." Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren who travel to England to investigate hauntings in the London Borough of Enfield.
Wan recently wrapped up filming of his follow-up film and is currently working on post-production. According to The Location Guide, 'The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' was filmed both in Enfield and Los Angeles while the first film 'The Conjuring' was shot entirely on location in Northern California. It was reported that New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. collaborated with the Enfield Council and its residents to make the new project as successful as possible.
Another report by MovieWeb hinted that the upcoming sequel may have ties to one of the Warrens' most popular investigations to date - the Amityville horror case. It involved a couple from New York being driven away from their purchased home in Rhode Island after a series of violent hauntings. The case was brought into mainstream attention after being turned into live-action adaptations in 1979 and in 2005.
'The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' is an upcoming supernatural horror film intended as the sequel to the 2012 release of the same name. It is scheduled to be released on June 10, 2016 in the United States. It is co-written and directed by James Wan of 'Furious 7' fame based on a screenplay by Carey Hayes, Chad Hayes and David Johnson.
