Microsoft has confirmed that the action-adventure game "ReCore," which was previously announced as an Xbox One exclusive title, will also arrive for the PC. In addition, a new report revealed that writer Jason Staten, who worked on the "Halo" and "Bungie" franchises, is also involved in the project.
According to PC Gamer, developers Comcept and Armature Studios first unveiled "ReCore" during last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. Back then, it was announced that the game will only be available for the Xbox One system.
But earlier this week, Microsoft posted on the Xbox Wire an updated list of games that will be arriving to its next-gen console this year. One of the games featured on the list is "ReCore." According to the post, the game will also come out for the Microsoft Windows 10 platform.
Without a direct confirmation from Microsoft, it was believed that there was a mistake in the listing. But then, a spokesperson from the tech giant confirmed that "ReCore" will also come out for the PC. The representative, however, did not mention if the game will also be available for previous versions of the Windows operating system.
But aside from the game's compatible platforms, the New York Times also reported that Staten will be working on the game. As a former employee of the development studio Bungie, Staten served as the director of cinematics for "Halo: Combat Evolved," "Halo 2" and "Halo 3" and supervised the in-game films for these titles.
For his last project with Bungie, he worked as the writer and design director for "Destiny." Now that Staten is with Microsoft, the publisher of "ReCore," he has been assigned as the game's lead writer and is responsible for its overall narrative.
"ReCore" does not yet have an exact release date but according to Microsoft spokesperson, the game is scheduled to arrive sometime during the second half of this year. It is not yet clear if the developers plan to release the game for Sony's PlayStation 4 in the future or if their exclusivity deal with Microsoft has an expiration.
