U.S. Raids Central Part of America; Picks Up 121 Immigrants For Deportation

By

U.S. federal immigration authorities took 121 illegal immigrants to custody during New Year. The families were found in Texas, North Carolina and Georgia.

San Antonio Express News reported that those families taken into custody are up for deportation. It was done to stop the unexpected surge of illegal immigrants coming, crossing the central part of the United States. In 2014, there were many illegal immigrants, adults and children or minors without accompaniment of any legal individual.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said that the gush of illegal immigrants should come as no surprise. He said openly before that all individuals who establish implementation significances, including families and unaccompanied children, will be removed. According to Yahoo News, the U.S. authorities have found the convicted criminals residing in the country during the past year. Department of Homeland Security said that children and adults are the targets of the apprehensions that were in a court order. White House spokesperson said that the enforcement urgencies laid out by the administration are focusing their efforts to deport offenders, not families, and to highlight the case of recent border crossers.

Washington Post said that the DHS did not state how many children were in the raid. They also did not disclose from where the immigrants were from. Josh Earnest, the White House spokesperson, said the efforts are consistent and the processes done are all legal. "People should take from this the understanding that the administration is quite serious when it comes to enforcing immigration laws," he added.

Precautions were done because it is sensitive for children to be put into custody and be deported. The DHS even use female agents for their raids to approach families and they also have medical support in case of emergency. Since last year, there were more than 100,000 families with both adults and children who crossed the border from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador to the U.S.
