United States president Barrack Obama to push through with passing an executive order tackling the gun laws in America. Many Republican president candidates are against it and will do everything to undo whatever he will pass.
The president together with Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch will finalize on Monday the new gun control measures. Washington Post reported that one of the proposals is that unlicensed gun dealers have to acquire licenses and conduct background checks on possible buyers. After the October's mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, Obama began examining the gun laws while the administration lawyers are reviewing every legal possibilities to counter challenges. Gun dealers will get license from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The idea first came up two years ago but was ignored not until the mass shooting occurred.
Many Republicans are against what he's doing. They are saying that the president is abusing his power and overdoing it. According to New York Times, Governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie said in Fox News that Obama is acting like a king and a dictator. It will be another illegal action that will surely be rejected by the courts and if he's going to be in the office he will terminate it. Another Republican, Jeb Bush, said that Mr. President is invading the rights of the law-abiding citizens and abusing his non-existing executive power.
Donald Trump, another Republican, promised to 'unsign' anything Obama implements, CNN stated. While campaigning in Mississippi last Saturday, the business tycoon said "There's an assault on the Second Amendment. You know Obama's going to do an executive order and really knock the hell out of it." He explained that Obama can't do those. It was supposed to be getting the Democrats and the Republicans and make deals, but he did not do it.
Bernie Sanders, a Democrat and Vermont Senator also running for President, said Obama has no other choice but to act alone because the Republicans doesn't want to do anything about the mass shooting and the gun laws.
