Motorola Moto X Pure Edition (2014) Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release Update

Android 6.0 Marshmallow update has just been officially confirmed to be rolled out to the second generation of Motorola Moto X Pure Edition or the 2014 Moto X. According to latest reports, Marshmallow will be released to the device this quarter.

Moto X Pure Edition (2014), otherwise known as the 2014 Moto X, will be getting the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow over-the-air (OTA) update this month or later in March. According to a report, it was revealed that the update is slated to come not later than March.

The device has been revealed to receive the update only this quarter since the company still has to evaluate the qualifications of the phone. Motorola disclosed beforehand a list of devices to receive the update which includes Moto X Pure Edition (2015), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto G (2015), Moto G (2014),Moto E (2015) and Moto E (2014).

Since the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update has already been available, Moto X Pure Edition (2014) might receive the first update of Marshmallow along with a security fix and a new and improved collection of emojis. This version is also expected to release to HTC One A9 and others.

Among the biggest mobile networks in the United States, Sprint, US Cellular and Verizon Wireless are the ones that have already released the update to their versions of Moto X Pure Edition (2015) while T-Mobile is expected to follow.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring the following features as posted on Motorola's support page:

  • Improved volume controls
  • System UI tuner in Settings menu
  • Doze
  • Now on Tap
  • App Standby
  • New memory manager
  • Do not disturb button in the quick settings panel
  • Expandable storage support allows for microSD cards to be used either in a portable storage or an internal storage mode
  • RAM manager in settings
  • Automatic App backup include relevant cached data
  • Improved text selection

These features are just quarter of Marshmallow.
