LG G4 smartphones of Sprint have officially begun receiving the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update mid December 2015. This sparked speculations that other big mobile carriers in the US are now up to roll out the same update to their versions of G4 anytime this month.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is now being released to several devices after a few months of waiting and LG is one of the first mobile manufacturers to roll out the official over-the-air (OTA) update of Marshmallow to its devices. Sprint being the network in the US to make the move has trailed a path that is expected to be followed by T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, US Cellular, Bell, Virgin Mobile and other carriers.
Aside from LG G4, Sprint also released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to LG G Stylo, a mid-range smartphone unexpected to receive the update ahead of G3. Meanwhile, G3 is still waiting for the go-signal from Sprint as some versions in Poland have already started getting the update.
Meanwhile, T-Mobile is the first carrier to mention its plans for LG G4's Marshmallow update and has not yet released the update as it is currently in the development stage. The carrier has the same devices being updated with Marshmallow as promised on its track list months back.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will offer new features like Doze and Now on Tap and improvements in Android Pay, connectivity, user interface and controls, among others.
Doze is the new power saving feature that screens phone and puts into a deep sleep when idle. This way, power consumption is being controlled.
Google Now expands with Now on Tap. This addition suggests relevant information that users might use. This goes anything under the sun like restaurant, movie trailer, celebrity biography, mall location, and more.
Marshmallow also brings in easier and quicker direct share, simpler volume controls and a more comprehensive Android Pay.
