'Spider-Man' actor Tom Holland revealed that the new remake will have an "independent" John Hughes feel to it. He said that it will not resemble previous adaptations of the titular character's story. It was also speculated that Iron Man and Captain America may make surprise appearances in the reboot.
During an interview with the Daily Beast, Holland revealed that the upcoming reboot will be much different from other live-action versions of comic books. He said, "It's not The Dark Knight... One of the special things about what we're going to try and create is that you're going to see the biggest independent film ever. It's not going to be an epic thing; it's going to be a film surrounded by these incredible things, but that follows this boy and his life."
The rising star likened the remake to be one like John Hughes's iconic Brat Pack films, making his Spider-Man quite relatable to old fans and new audiences alike.
According to Gamespresso, Holland is the latest actor to portray the famous Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He follows the footsteps of Tobey Maguire of the 'Spider-Man' trilogy and Andrew Garfield of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' series. The 19-year old is set to debut his superhero in the upcoming 'Captain America: Civil War' alongside Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.
Not much is known about the upcoming remake except that it will focus more on Peter Parker's life in high school as an awkward teenager. Marisa Tomei is set to play a young Aunt May alongside Holland.
Another article from Wired speculated that Evans' Captain America and Downey Jr.'s Iron Man may cameo as well in the 'Spider-Man' standalone film before the next 'Avengers' release. Crossovers are quite common in films in the MCU so this may not come as a surprise.
It was reported that 'Captain America' would shoot again in Atlanta while Holland's film is preparing to do the same. Speculations erupted that both teams would be shooting the same film somehow.
'Spider-Man' is an upcoming reboot starring Tom Holland. The yet untitled film is directed by Jon Watts based on a screenplay by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein. It is scheduled to be released on July 28, 2017.
