Last Thursday afternoon December 10, 2015, HBO president Michael Lombardo announced that the cult -favorite drama series has been renewed. According to Indie Wire, the network officially ordered a 3rd installment for "The Leftovers" Season 3. However, the upcoming season will also be the last season to air on the small screen.
On the other hand, executive producer Damon Lindelof has revealed some details TV Line when asked to give out a potential spoiler for the upcoming season. Lindelof teased "The one thing that I would say to you is that Scott Glenn is a starting pitcher that we have used as a relieving pitcher. I would really like to see some more of Kevin Senior. And not just in the present, but in the past."
That said, HBO decided to end the show after running its 3rd season with due respect of series creators' Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta's choice. The show's season premiere executed a poor performance on its viewership and received mix reviews from TV critics.
Then the 2nd installment raised the viewership high with its 2 final episodes, the November 29 episode garnered 1.42 million viewers in Live +3 ratings and the December 6 episode (finale episode), as noted on Variety.
As of now, no official scheduled launch for "The Leftovers" Season 3 has been released yet. However, the series is expected to return around Fall of 2016.
