A & E Network has ordered 4 more episodes for "Vikings" Season 4. The History series will now run for 20 episodes starting on February 18, 2016. That said, Peter Franzen, Jasper Paakkonen, and Dianne Doan joins the cast. Also, the episode premiere synopsis has been noted.
A & E Network announced last December 17, 2015 that they have ordered 4 more episodes for the upcoming installment of "Vikings". The History series now has a 20-episode run, the show initially consists of 16 episodes. A new episode is scheduled to air every Thursday for 10 weeks starting from its official scheduled launch on February 18, 2016. Then, the added episodes will be released in the latter months of 2016.
Moreover, new actors officially join the cast and this include Peter Franzen joins the cast for "Vikings" Season 4 to portray the character of King Harold Finehair, a threat to Ragnar Lothbrok who wants to be the king of Norway. Jasper Paakkonen who will play the role of Halfdan The Black, King Harold's younger brother and Dianne Doan will play Yidu, a woman who is fascinated by Ragnar as reported by Geeks of Doom.
As for the official plot synopsis of season 4 premiere episode, TV Fanatic notes, "It culminated with the extraordinary battle in Paris, where Ragnar seized victory from the jaws of defeat - but still returns to Kattegat dangerously ill. Thoughts of his death galvanize the forces who seek to succeed him as king including his wife Queen Aslaug and his oldest son Bjorn.
Meanwhile, Lagertha continues power struggles with her calculating former 2nd in command, Kalf. Rollo betrays his Vikings heritage by remaining in Frankia and Floki is seized for his brutal actions to the Christian priest Athelstan."
