The latest flagship from Huawei's sub-brand, Honor 7, in India is now receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system upgrade. The newest firmware is already available for the Huawei Honor 7 owners who registered their handsets for the over-the air update.
According to Android Central, the update will be accessible for all Honor 7 users who register for the OTA update through providing their device's IMEI number and current software version. The company promised that the OTA upgrade will reach their handsets 24 to 48 hours from the time of their registration.
The Indian Express added that the Huawei Honor 7 hit the market shelves in India on October 7 running with Android 5.0 Lollipop. The handset sports a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD display and is engineered by Huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin processor.
It is packed with a 3 GB of RAM and 16 or 64 GB internal storage option and sports a 20-megapixel rear-facing snapper with PDAF and dual LED flash. The front camera is a 8-megapixel one, also armed with a LED flash. The Honor 7 is exclusively available on Flipkart at Rs 22,999 and is obtainable in metallic grey color.
Meanwhile, Android Authority recently reported that the new Enhanced Edition of the Honor 7 has just been announced. This handset boasts additional internal memory and Huawei's Android 6.0 based EMUI 4.0 OS right out of the box. The announcement comes very interesting as the Honor brand will enter the US market at CES 2016.
The internal memory improvement gets default storage increase from 16 GB to 32 GB. There's also a 128GB microSD card slot on both handsets. The device also sports fast charging and a 9 volt 2 amp charger included in the box. Apart from that, the Enhanced edition has a shortcut smart key that be personalized with numerous functions and a voice-activated assistant which is powered by Baidu and Huawei.
The Honor 7 Enhanced Edition has already been made available in China with a price tag set at 1999 Yuan (approximately $310), while the regular model has seen its price drop to 1799 Yuan ($278). Hopefully, additional details about a wider roll out of the device and Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be announced at CES 2016 in January.
