'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' may feature Kurt Russell in a secret role as the actor confirmed negotiations between himself and writer-director James Gunn. He is speculated to play Peter Quill's father in the sequel. Meanwhile, Chris Pratt's audition tape with Dave Bautista was revealed online.

According to IGN, Golden Globe nominee Kurt Russell confirmed that he engaged in talks with director-writer James Gunn over a new and undisclosed role for the superhero sequel. Previous speculations suggested that he is in the running to play Star-Lord's father although this has yet to be confirmed as of the present. Russell admitted that he spoke with Gunn over the phone and nothing is official just yet.

Russell revealed that although there have been ongoing negotiations, he hasn't fully committed to the part. According to Coming Soon, he admitted that he didn't know anything about the film and that didn't realize Gunn was behind it. He added, "...So we talked to each other on the phone and I just had to be honest and say, 'Thank you for considering me, I have to read it, and I have to watch the movie because I can't bring anything for you. I've got nothing to offer here.' So, I'm amazed to get asked about this because everybody knows more about it than I do."

The 64-year old actor is set to star as John "The Hangman" Ruth in Quentin Tarantino's latest Western 'The Hateful Eight'. He is part of the ensemble cast consisting of Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir and Tim Roth. He is best known for his work on 1983's 'Silkwood' where he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and for the 1979 television film 'Elvis' where he was nominated for an Emmy Award.

Meanwhile, audition tapes of Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista for 'Guardians of the Galaxy' made its way online. The two play Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord and Drax the Destroyer, respectively. According to Business Standard, one tape showed the duo talking about Zoe Saldana's Gamora while another featured a hilarious exchange between the two.

'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' is the sequel to 2014's highly successful superhero film based on the Marvel Comics team-up of the same name. It is a science-fiction and adventure film written and directed by James Gunn. It is scheduled to premiere on May 5, 2017 as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Three.
