‘Doctor Strange’ Cast, News: Tom Holland visits set, Spider-Man to cameo?

'Doctor Strange' gets a surprise visit on set from Tom Holland, MCU's latest Spider-Man. Speculations behind an unexpected cameo from his red-and-blue webslinger erupted online. Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the titular Sorcerer Supreme, is seen wearing distinctive hair during the latest Star Wars premiere.

According to Coming Soon, Marvel Studios co-president Louis D'Esposito shared an intriguing behind-the-scenes image on Twitter showing Tom Holland visiting the filming set. It sparked a lot of questions regarding Holland's Spider-Man making a surprise cameo on the upcoming 'Doctor Strange' film. In the photograph, D'Esposito is seen posing together with Holland and director Scott Derrickson.

Holland is set to play the newest Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). His first outing as the famous webslinger will be in 2016's 'Captain America: Civil War' starring Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. as Captain America and Iron Man, respectively.

As reported by Cinema Blend, it is not surprising that speculation of Spider-Man's appearance on 'Doctor Strange' has emerged considering the interaction the two have in the original comic books.

Spidey and Doctor Strange have frequently teamed up in the comic books such as 1965's 'Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2'. The latter was noted to have appeared on 'Amazing Spider-Man' during writer J. Michael Straczynski's series. It is good to note that he was also featured on 'Spider-Man: The Animated Series' and 'Ultimate Spider-Man'.

However, despite all the connections the two have had in the past, it remains highly unlikely that Holland may make a guest appearance on 'Doctor Strange' unless he plays an interesting role in Doctor Strange's fight against the villains.

Meanwhile, lead actor Benedict Cumberbatch was also spotted wearing a haircut very much unlike his usual during the premiere of J.J. Abrams' 'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens'.

According to Metro, the 'Sherlock' actor's hair looked noticeably similar to his on-screen counterpart Stephen Strange a.k.a. Doctor Strange. The article suggested that his distinctive cowlick may have given it away.

'Doctor Strange' is an upcoming standalone superhero film based on the Marvel character of the same name. It is scheduled to be released on November 4, 2016 and is currently in production. It is directed by Scott Derrickson based on a screenplay by Jon Spaihts, Joshua Oppenheimer, Thomas Dean Donnelly and C. Robert Cargill.
