LG G5 is expected to be unveiled sometime in 2016 but rumors have already surfaced on potential specs and release date of the upcoming flagship device. The new device could be LG's adherence to the latest trend of full metal body, improved security features, and better cameras.
As reported by Latin Post, the next handset is likely to flaunt a 5.6-inch display with the resolution of 1440x2560, and 4K display. Furthermore, it is also rumored to ditch the traditional plastic case for a sleeker and trendy full metal body.
However, according to GSM Arena, instead of the previously rumored homegrown Nuclun 2 chipset by LG, LG G5 is rumored to get the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 instead, while the Nuclun 2 could be incorporated in LG next handset that is rumored to be introduced sometime in the second half of 2016.
Aside from the finger print scanner, the new handset is rumored to include an iris scanner as one of its biometrics security features. It is also speculated to be released with much sophisticated set of cameras with 20MP as the potential graphic resolution for its rear camera while the front-facing shooter is rumored to be released at 8MP.
As for its release, several possible dates have been linked to the handset. Tech Radar reports that it is possible that the new smartphone will be introduced during the Mobile World Congress 2016 which is likely to happen in February.
Meanwhile, the South Korean website, Daum, also previously detailed that the new device will be released during the second quarter of the year and will be introduced in April. But there are also recent reports about a first quarter release for the handset.
With the lack of official details about the device it would be best to treat these speculations with a grain of salt for now. But more details about the LG G5 will be reported in the coming months when new details are unveiled.
