President Barack Obama blamed House Speaker John Boehner for the government shutdown, which did not show any let up in its third day, The Associated Press reported. In addition to the House Speaker, Obama also blamed a small group of conservative Republicans who want "to extract concessions in exchange for passing a short term spending bill that would restart the partially stuttered government."
U.S. Representative Michelle Bachmann, leader of the Tea Party movement, announced that she will not seek re-election, and will retire from the House of Representatives.
During an impassioned speech to the House of Representatives on Thursday, Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann, spoke against the healthcare law signed into law in 2010. Derisively known as 'Obamacare' the Minnesota representative implored her fellow lawmakers to "repeal this failure before it literally kills women, kills children, kills senior citizens."
