Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher died "peacefully" at the age of 87 after suffering a stroke, her family announced on Monday. Lady Thatcher served as the Conservative prime minister from 1979 to 1990, and was the first woman serving in that role.

A Cairo court has turned down a lawsuit filed by an Islamist lawyer, which demanded Bassem Youssef's television show be banned for allegedly insulting the president and containing sexual innuendo on his program. Judge Hassouna Wawfiq said the lawsuit was dropped since the plaintiff did not have an interest in the case. Youssef is not completely off the hook just yet, as he still faces other investigations related to the show. This ruling, however, may set a precedent.

New York state assemblyman Eric Stevenson, representing the South Bronx, has been accused of taking more than $22,000 in bribes in exchange for official acts, which included drafting and sponsoring legislation that would have effectively granted a monopoly to a network of adult day-care centers operated by four businessmen. He is vowing to fight all charges.
