The BBC detective series "Sherlock" will be returning for its fourth season on January 2016.
British actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will be reprising their roles as the modern day Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, respectively.
According to Gospel Herald, the upcoming season will be "darker" compared to the previous seasons. This will probably be because of the death of one of the main characters of the show. As to who may that be, no information has not been released yet, but it will surely break the hearts of many fans.
"Series Four! At last! It's always special to return to Sherlock but this time it's even more special as we're doing...a Special! Not only THAT, we'll then be shooting three more episodes which will take Sherlock and John Watson into deeper and darker water than ever before...The whole 'Sherlock' team are terrifically excited to return for four new adventures. The Game is on - again!" said show creator Mark Gatiss, as reported by KpopStars
One of the characters that will be returning for season 4 is Sherlock's brother Mycroft Holmes. Aside from him, another one of Sherlock's brothers, Sherrinford, is also reported to make an appearance in the show.
Gospel Herald reported that Tom Hiddleston is rumored to be cast for the role after Gatiss jokingly said that he wanted the "Avengers" star to play the character.
Meanwhile, Sherlock's love life may be heating up as he will be surrounded by women for this season. Speculations have been up on whether or not romance will bloom between Sherlock and Molly. Though it is clear that Sherlock likes her, it may be complicated because of his identity.
Aside from Molly, Sherlock's temporary love interest Janine will also be making a comeback as well as Irene Adler, the one who gave Sherlock a run for his money back in season 2.
On other news, fans can now have a copy of the previous three seasons of "Sherlock" as the DVD and Blu-ray of the detective series will be available soon. The set will also contain interviews, commentaries and even collectible mini-busts of the show's two leading men.
