The CW's supernatural drama series "Beauty and the Beast" is finally returning for a third season after a long break from television.
Fans feared that the show will be sacked following its low ratings. Fortunately, the network decided to renew the show despite the ratings it received.
Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan will be reprising their lead roles as Beauty and Beast, respectively, in the third season. Kruek will be playing as NYPD homicide detective Catherine "Cat" Chandler while Jay Ryan will be portraying Vincent Keller, a former test subject of a supersoldier program whom Cat has a relationship with.
According to Hallels, reports from TV Line suggested that the third season will have 13 action-filled episodes. New enemies will also possibly emerge after Gabe met his demise at the hands of Catherine.
VC Post reported that Kreuk shared that she, herself, is looking forward to the return of the series.
"Having a slight understanding of how the network works, it made sense to me. I figured it wouldn't be a full-season pick-up if we got picked up. But it was a nice surprise - we get to come back together again, and we all get along really well," she commented on the cast's tight relationship. She also claimed that the season will not begin where the previous season left off.
Meanwhile, Christian Post reported that show producer Brad Kern dropped some hints about season 3 during a recent interview The Hollywood Reporter. According to him, the third season will be focusing more on the romance between Cat and Vincent.
"Now that we have the loyal audience, the goal is to make it more Cat-Vincent centric. We'll continue to build the mythology. Everything else will service and work around that love," revealed the show runner.
There is no specific date yet on the premiere of the series, but it is expected to be part of the 2014-2015 lineup of The CW.
