'Black Sails' Season 2 News: Second installment all-set for release by January 2015; New characters will be introduced; More bloody pirate battles expected

Fans of the Emmy-winning pirate series "Black Sails" is in for a treat as an all-new exciting season 2 is ready for release by next year.

The series, which is being produced by Michael Bay, is about the adventures of Captain Flint (played by Toby Stephens) and his Walrus crew, which happened 20 years before the incidents in "Treasure Island" of Robert Louis Stevenson.

According to Hero Complex, season 2 will be picking up from where the previous season left off with a cliffhanger. As the Walrus crew is stranded with Spanish troops surrounding them, rivals Captain Flint and John Silver (portrayed by Luke Arnold) will be forced to join forces in order survive their present ordeal.

The site also reported that a new character will be introduced in the upcoming season. Tadgh Murphy will be debuted in the series through the role of Ned Low, a man coming from a new breed of pirates. He will be arriving in Nassau and his violence will be causing blood spills and tensions within the island.

As chaos erupts in Nassau, a prize of immeasurable value will be smuggled into the island. Its discovery, according to season 2's official description, will alter the very landscape of Nassau.

Other stars that will be reprising their roles in the new season will be Hannah New as Eleanor Guthrie (the one who runs the New Providence smuggling operation), Jessa Parker Kennedy as a young prostitute, Max, and Zach McGowan as Captain Charles Vane (a rival pirate to Flint).

Meanwhile, Hannah revealed to Collider her exciting role for this second season as per the report by Breathecast.

"The stakes are always so high in the show. Everything she deals with either has the threat of violence or the threat of her business going under. She has so much to deal with, and she can't deal with it lightly. She has to go in heavy-handed, and that's a very fun way to deal with situations. Sometimes I wish I could do the same," said the actress.

"Black Sails" is all set to make its return to television on January 2015.
