The new season of "The Vampire Diaries" is set to be filled with surprising twists and turns.
New reports are now spreading that Damon and Bonnie will come back in Season 6 with their memories erased.
It can be recalled that in Season 5, the finale concluded with Damon failing to go back through to the land of the living. He and Bonnie were trapped in "The Other Side" while it crumbled. The last scene in the episode showed the two holding hands while a white light surrounded them.
However, viewers are not convinced that the pair will be gone for good. A report by the International Business Times also revealed that executive producer Julie Plec has confirmed the contract of Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham, the actors playing the characters of Damon and Bonnie.
Fans are speculating that the two will come back as humans, with no memory of their past in Mystic Falls or of their family and friends.
This will probably make it harder for Damon to reunite with Elena, Stefan, Jeremy, and all the others.
Plec also told TV guide that this season will reveal what will happen to the two after being in the Mystic Falls. She hinted that something may brew in between them.
"You'll definitely know before the end of the second episode. But pay close attention: Although the setting may look familiar, the duo is definitely in a place that's foreign to them. Perhaps it's not the where that matters at all!" revealed the show's producer.
Meanwhile, the producer also shared some preview to E! Online on how Elena and Stefan will be dealing with the loss of Damon.
"It's surprising, only in that it's not instantly what you'd expect. They're both grieving, but they're both coping with their grief in very specific and not necessarily conventional ways," Plec teased.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 is scheduled to premiere this October 2.
