A Florida man was arrested after posting a series of disturbing social media threats, including vows to "kill" Donald Trump on "live TV," prompting federal authorities to intervene.
Kendal Aaron Todd had been posting threatening messages on social media, declaring himself president and threatening to harm the president, WPTV reported. Todd's posts included claims that Trump was the "antichrist" and challenges to fight him "naked to the death."
The 42-year-old's online threats gained the attention of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Secret Service, and following a search of his home, he was charged with written threats to kill or cause bodily harm.
Sheriff Richard Del Torro emphasized the seriousness of the threats, stating that law enforcement would not take any risks when it comes to potential harm against the president.
"This was obviously flagged by the United States Secret Service," Del Torro said. "We worked with them to obtain the arrest warrant and the search warrant today. Got there today again, the SWAT team was there. We were in full force. We're not messing around, obviously, with threats of suicide by cop and things like that, threats to our president. We weren't letting any taking any chances, and we're not going to put our deputies' lives at risk, so it's a high-risk situation."
As of now, Todd remains in custody awaiting further investigation, with his bond set at $500,000.
