Austin Mahone kicks of North American summer tour in hometown San Antonio

It isn't every day that an 18 year-old gets to release a new EP and headline a summer concert to boot.

Singer-songwriter heartthrob Austin Mahone recently kicked off his "MTV Presents Austin Mahone" summer tour at the Freeman Coliseum in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas, last July 25. The summer tour will be visiting 26 cities in the United States and a few countries outside America.

In the first leg of his tour, My San Antonio reported that the Austin Mahone covered George Strait's "Check Yes or No" and John Legend's "All of Me" as part of his 17-song set. The singer closed the show with his hit singles "What About Love" and "MMM Yeah," which has already garnered 85 million and 56 million YouTube views respectively.

The "MTV Presents Austin Mahone" tour will run until September 14, where Mahone will also be making a stop in Toronto, Canada this August. Mahone will also be having a string of concerts in Mexico, Brazil and Puerto Rico in October. Joining Austin Mahone in the MTV Presents" summer tour as his opening acts are The Vamps, a Biritsh pop-rock boy band, Fifth Harmony from "X-Factor" fame, Shawn Mendes, a YouTube star; and Alex Angelo, a 13-year-old DJ and singer. the music news outlet said.

On the other hand, Mahone will undoubtly work extra hard to reap more successes as an artist. Last May, Mahone released a six-song EP entitled "The Secret," and debuted at number five on the Billboard charts. He was also recognized as "MTV VMA for the Artist to Watch" in 2013. In addition, he also toured with Taylor Swift as an opening act for her recently concluded "The Red Tour."

Do you know that the San Antonio native started on social media? Mahone rose to fame in 2010 when he began recording and uploading his songs on YouTube. He has then garnered a huge fan base, which was evidently followed by a record deal with Universal Republic. The singer-songwriter has also released the singles "Say Somethin'," and "Say You're Just a Friend" with Flo Rida.
