A Florida man was arrested after he allegedly dragged his unclothed girlfriend into oncoming traffic where she was then struck by a vehicle and died at the scene.
Lorent Pion was reportedly seen "forcefully beating" and dragging Nahomi Cittadini into oncoming traffic during a fight in Miami-Dade, forcing vehicles on Interstate-95 in Miami-Dade County to swerve around them, Local 10 News reported.
Security footage obtained by city employees who saw the incident occur the morning of Dec. 7 showed Pion walking away from the victim, who then "crawled back to the emergency shoulder" before she was dragged "back to the far-right ravel lane in the path of oncoming traffic."
The 29-year-old suspect continued punching the 22-year-old victim until he "jumped back" as a sedan struck and killed Cittadini, with the driver stopping nearby. Cameras then showed Pion dragging the woman's body and attempting to load it into his SUV.
The city employees later checked the camera and saw Cittadini had been left undressed and face down on the ground with a trail of blood behind her.
Law enforcement was later dispatched to the scene and determined the victim died from "blunt force trauma due to being struck by a vehicle," according to Local 10.
Police tracked down Pion, who is a convicted felon, using his ankle monitor. When they attempted to stop his vehicle at a traffic stop, the suspect fled in his vehicle and was brought to a stop after crashing into multiple vehicles.
Pion was arrested and charged with second-degree murder despite maintaining he is not at fault.
"I am innocent. I didn't kill my girl. It was a car accident. And the car that hit her ran away," Pion wrote to a judge. He remains in jail.
