A YouTube-famous lawyer filed a lawsuit against the FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ), attempting to force them to publicize their findings in their investigations into President-elect Donald Trump, who is facing federal criminal charges.

The President-elect has been under investigation for allegations of election interference. Trump allegedly distributed classified documents he had access to from his first term as President before he was re-elected to a second term.

Following Trump's victory on election day last month, special counsel Jack Smith moved to drop the charges against the President-elect due to a DOJ policy under which a sitting President cannot be prosecuted. Smith himself intends to resign once Trump takes office, reported The New York Times.

However, YouTube Attorney Devin Stone, also known as Legal Eagle, announced that he had filed a lawsuit asking the FBI and DOJ to publicize their findings about Trump in the ongoing investigation against him. He has expressed a sense of urgency in obtaining records of evidence against Trump.

"There's already an effort underway to rewrite history and deny reality," Stone said on his YouTube channel Wednesday. "That's why it's critically important to act now to capture the complete record of the federal prosecutions before the records are destroyed, altered or God knows what the new administration will do with them."

"If this lawsuit is successful, then the American public may finally have the answers to many of the unanswered questions about the Donald Trump investigations," Stone continued.

According to Stone, he initially filed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) documents to retrieve the documents involved in the case, but his request was declined. He responded with a lawsuit.

Stone primarily wants to know if Trump stored classified documents he retained from his first Presidential term anywhere other than the Mar-a-Lago in Florida. The former President allegedly removed 300 classified documents from the White House after leaving it in 2021.
