A Texas megachurch youth leader has been arrested after he allegedly confessed to a fellow church member that he had a problem with child pornography.
The member of the church that Charles Goff, 24, confided in alerted police. While speaking with police, Goff allegedly said that he had a problem with videos of girls around ages of 14 or 15, according to court documents obtained by KTXS.
Goff allegedly admitted to using various social media platforms to solicit videos and images from teenage girls. Three videos were reportedly found on Goff's phone by police, according to documents obtained by KRBC.
The youth leader was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, and booked into Taylor County Jail.
Goff maintained a position for years as a volunteer youth leader at Baptist megachurch Beltway Park Church in Abilene, Texas. The church, where thousands attend every week, said in a statement that Goff had passed two different background checks two years apart.
"We remain committed to doing everything in our power to support the ongoing investigation. We have tremendous grief for any children in any location who may be proven to have been harmed by this person's actions," Beltway Park Church said in a statement. "As always, we are here to offer prayer, support and additional ministry resources throughout this process to anyone who may have been impacted by these events. We stand ready to assist in any way."
