Brazilian World Cup legend Cafu thrown out by FA president from team changing room after Germany defeat

By

The Brazilian Football federation president appeared to be embarrassed alongside the host nation's national team following its humiliating 7-1 loss on Tuesday from the World Cup semifinals match against Germany. According to Brazil football legend Cafu, he was immediately thrown out by CBF President José Maria Marin when he tried to console the team in their changing rooms in the wake of its defeat from the Germans.

Daily Mail said Cafu had been instrumental to Brazil's success in the World Cup back in 2002, and was also part of the squad that had won the championship in the United States eight years earlier. Cafu had also made history during his run in Sao Paulo, Roma and Milan football clubs.

According to Cafu, he went to the changing rooms to lend support to the players, who were visibly upset when they left the pitch in tears after finishing the match against Germany without its key players, the injured Neymar and the suspended team captain Thiago Silva. Silva was seen lending his support in the sidelines, while Neymar was brought home to recuperate from a fractured vertebrae he received from the team's quarterfinals game against Colombia. Cafu said that Marin spotted him and ordered him out of the changing rooms.

"José Maria Marin said he didn't want any strange people in the dressing room. I told him that I wasn't a "strange person", that I was just there to give the boys a hug and comfort them. To my surprise, I was practically thrown out," Cafu was quoted as saying.

There is no word yet from Marin or Marin's camp regarding the said incident. However, despite Cafu's sincere intentions and the fact that the 44 year-old retired football player could provide some wise words to the team, Marin might have thought that it was best for the team and management present in the pitch to be with themselves for a while following their humbling defeat.

Brazil is expected to play for the third-place match with the Netherlands on Saturday in Brasilia. Daily Mail said the CBF has confirmed that Neymar would also be in attendance to lend support to his teammates.
