Authorities arrested a Florida mother after she allegedly threatened to rip the head and cut the tongue off her 3-year-old son in a disturbing case of alleged child abuse.
Genesis Pena, 30, was arrested on the charge early Thursday morning, according to jail records.
Police responded to a report at her Miami apartment from an anonymous caller stating Pena was allegedly screaming at her toddler boy, threatening to "cut his tongue" and "rip his head off," cops said, according to WPLG-TV.
When officers arrived, Pena allegedly refused them access to her apartment and insisted the cries they were hearing were coming from a "fake baby," according to the arrest report, per the outlet.
Pena's mother arrived and after a phone call was able to convince her daughter to open the door after an hour of pleading.
Once inside, officers alleged they witnessed the boy with several bruises and injuries to the face.
Pena was arrested, but police questioning was cut short when detectives noted she appeared "incoherent" and refused to speak to them without a lawyer present.
The Florida Department of Children and Families took custody of the boy.
