Kentucky Sheriff Denies Courthouse Killing of Judge After Heated Argument

A Kentucky sheriff accused of killing a judge during a heated argument pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.

Sheriff Shawn "Mickey" Stines entered the plea Wednesday, in connection with last week's fatal shooting of District Judge Kevin Mullins in his Letcher County, Kentucky chambers, according to WLWT-TV.

Mullins was pronounced dead on the scene after suffering from several gunshot wounds, said authorities.

A motive has not been disclosed.

Stines is being held at the Leslie County Detention Center.

He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
