Authorities book Wiz Khalifa for marijuana possession following airport inspection

CBS News reported that rapper Wiz Khalifa has been charged with authorities for possession of marijuana. Prior to the arrest, Khalifa was headlining along with other artists at the the Neon Desert Music Festival in in downtown El Paso, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Thomaz, was searched at the El Paso International Airport after local police found that the rapper had traveled without any identification on him. A search was subsequently ordered, which led to Transportation Security Administration agents discovering a canister with pot in his possession. TSA later notified police of the offense, which led to the rapper's arrest.

In a statement, the El Paso police department said, "The TSA Officer learned that Thomaz did not have any identification which led to him being sent for secondary screening. During that screening the TSA Officer located a metal container inside of the backpack which contained a prohibited item."

According to court records, there was no attorney requested for Khalifa's case. CBS News contacted tha rapper's agency and left a message requesting for comment about his arrest. The request has yet to be answered.

Khalifa was reportedly booked with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and posted a $300 bail to be released. THR said that the rapper carried 0.5 grams of the substance with him at the time of the inspection.

A Twitter post from his official account @wizkhalifa showed a photo of him in what appeared to be a holding cell. The rapper captioned the photo with the words "Jail selfie." He also posted another tweet with the title "Free Trap Whiz."

Khalifa is married to model Amber Rose, who was Kanye West's former fiancee before getting engaged and married to reality star Kim Kardashian. The rapper and model recently had a son in February last year, whom they named Sebastian Taylor Thomaz.
