After human remains were discovered floating in a North Carolina river, authorities arrested three suspects on charges of concealment of remains.
Following the investigation of a nearby home, Robert Dale Ford, Rocky Lee Dale, and Lorie Knight Stevens, of Morganton, North Carolina, were each also charged with disturbing human remains in connection with the macabre discovery by a group of kayakers on Johns River Aug. 30, authorities announced Monday.
Additional charges against the suspects are expected.
Ford and Stevens are being held on $135,000 and $75,000 bonds, respectively, while Dale was denied bond.
Details surrounding the investigation remain unclear.
Authorities have not publicly identified the remains.
