The former boyfriend of an Alabama mom of four denied allegations he's responsible for her kidnapping and killing after intentionally crashing his car into hers.

Cedric Robertson, 37, pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease to a charge of capital murder in the death of Nakita Davidson, 40, prosecutors said, according to WBRC-TV.

Robertson was arrested in April following the discovery of Davidson's body in the Birmingham, Alabama woods, two days after she vanished.

A witness allegedly claimed they saw Robertson shoot a female victim before stuffing her body into the trunk of her own SUV, court documents stated, according to the Associated Press.

Police allegedly found evidence of a shooting at the crash site, along with Robertson's cell phone.

Robertson was captured by U.S. Marshals while he was moving from one abandoned house to another, according to the outlet.

Speaking with AL.com after his sister's body was found, Lederrius Swain, said Davidson was trying "to get away from him. That's what she was trying to do that night."
