Kentucky Bill Restricts Viagra Usage For Married Men In A Plight To Fight Sexism

By

A new law has been proposed by a US politician that requires men to attain their wife's permission prior to acquiring a Viagra prescription. The statement was pointed out directed to anti-abortion lawmakers.

According The Independent, the legislation demands the male populace of the state of Kentucky to pay two visits to a doctor before they could be prescribed with any drug for erectile dysfunction. It also demands that the men acquire a dated and signed letter of consent from their spouse and obviously be married.

Mary Lou Marzian, a Democrat member of the House of Representatives, drew up the bill and also called for the man to "make a sworn statement with his hand on the bible that he will only use a prescription for a drug for erectile dysfunction when having sexual relations with his current spouse." Talk about creating a scene!

Marzian explained her stance by stating that she wanted to bring to light the ridiculousness and intrusiveness of elected officials being part of personal as well as private medical decisions. This proposal came to light only a few days after Matt Bevin, the Republican Kentucky Governor, signed a law titled "informed consent."

The law required women to receive a doctor's counselling 24 hours prior to undergoing an abortion. Bevin passed another law which requires that a woman be shown the image of her foetus as well as hear the heartbeat prior to receiving permission to undergo the abortion.

Legally, the state's limit for abortion has recently been reduced to only 20 weeks. The only excetion to this is in cases where the mother's life is put at risk. Marzian who happens to be pro-choice asked whether everyone "really wants a bunch of legislators interfering in private, personal medical decisions?"

Also a registered nurse, the congresswoman, spoke to Louisville Courier-Journal, the local newspaper. She said she has low expectations for the bill to get very far. However, she still feels that it is important to point out how unacceptable it is for lawmakers to dictate to women what they can or cannot do to their bodies.

Marzian also intends to file for a bill which requires potential gun owners to sit through counselling 24 hours from victims of gun violence prior to making the purchase. She backed up the bold move by saying "I'm just making sure the Government is taking care of your safety."
