Valentine's Day is more commonly known as a day for love but not for a 65-year-old British woman who filed a divorce against her husband. The couple has been married for 40 years and the reason behind their fallout is no shocker.
Tini Owens, 65. and Hugh Owens, 78, were married in 1978 and have lived nearby Worcester throughout their married life. Tini filed a divorce case and her reason was obvious and plain, "unreasonable behavior".
But, her husband had a different take on the matter. He stated that the marriage still had a few more years to it. And they both could enjoy that. Mixed feelings were shared over this specific statement.
One can only imagine what that means! But, matters seem to be in the favor of her husband a family court judge has refused to allow the divorce to go through. An Oxford judge, Robin Tolson's response to Tini's divorce petition was a blatant no!
But, she did not stop there as she requested appeal judges to overturn Tolson's decision. Currently 3 appeal judges are on the case in London. And it seems like the case will not be seeing its end any time soon as it has been going strong since last year.
On Tuesday, Mrs. Owens' barrister made a point to the appeal court of how hundreds of divorces were left unprotected in the early 21st century. TheGuardian reports that a Queen's Council, Phillip Marshall took the opportunity to add:
"It is astonishingly uncommon in modern times for a court to dismiss a divorce petition."
When Judge Tolson also ruled against Mrs. Owens with his reason being "her allegations are simply things you can expect in a marriage"; Phillip stated that "Tolson could not produce proper findings for his fact".
Similar cases have been seen before as reported by TheTimes that the Owens owned properties in Holland and Britain. Above that, they were both business partners in various ventures.
