Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Leak Shows Device In Development, Release On Spring 2017?

By

Microsoft released its latest version of the tablet-laptop hybrid the Surface Pro 4 last Oct 2016.Now, reports indicate that the tech giant is currently working on the Surface Pro 5.

Details regarding the upcoming Surface Pro 5 was leaked in two separate sources, according to Trusted Reviews. Both sources indicate the existence of the new device which may come sooner than expected.

The first source came from Microsoft's website itself that shows the image of the new Surface Pro 5. The image shown in France's Microsoft website is named "win10-feature-surface-pro-5-z." But the filename may be case of a typo error rather than a proof of the unannounced device.

The second leak comes from Linkedin that seems to offer more proof than the first source. According to the Linkedin profile of a former Microsoft employee, one of his jobs in Microsoft included being an Analong Speech Designer that worked on the Surface Pro 5.

What makes this leak more compelling is that the profile has deleted the description that indicates that the employee worked on the new device. It may be because Microsoft noticed the description that included the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and asked the former employee to delete it to prevent it from spreading.

However, the sources didn't indicate the release date of the Surface Pro 5. Cnet reports that the Surface Pro 5 will be released at Spring 2017 at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Surface Pro 4 has received great reviews from tech sites saying that it's the perfect device that delivered Microsoft's vision for the Surface. Other tech giants have also released their own versions of the tablet-laptop hybrid that features detachable keyboard and tablet like Apple and Google. This is proof that Microsoft's vision for the Surface Pro 5 has potential.

Like all rumors and leaks, these shouldn't be considered as official and factual. Microsoft has yet to release information regarding the Surface Pro 5 but a next iteration for the device is a safe bet.
