'Narcos' Season 3 Spoilers, News & Update: Boyd Holbrook Quits? Series Focuses On Cali Cartel

"Narcos" Season 3 is set to focus on the Cali Cartel rather than the life of Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura). There are reports that Boyd Holbrook is not returning for his role as Steve Murphy in the upcoming season.

According to IB Times, "Narcos" Season 3 will feature Pablo Escobar's death. It then will move on to focus on the Cali Cartel. The Cali Cartel is led by Jose Santacruz Londonio and is with the drug cartel with his brothers Gilberto and Miguel Orejuela.

"Narcos" Season 3 is going to focus more on this new drug cartel and there may be more characters coming to the series. The upcoming season is also to feature the Mexican druglord "El Chapo." The third season of the series is currently in production.

It can be recalled that the first two seasons of "Narcos" focused on how Pablo Escobar came about in the drug trade. The "Narcos" Season 3 will have him already dead and will move on with the story of different drug cartels still bringing in the drug trade.

In the meantime, Just Jared reported that Pedro Pascal is currently hard at work with "Narcos" Season 3. The set for the current production is in Cartagena Colombia where Pascal is currently filming. Pascal portrays the role of Javier Pena in the series.

Meanwhile, Movie Pilot shared that Holbrook is not part of "Narcos" Season 3. He wll not return in the upcoming season. Holbrook is currently busy with the promotion of his latest movie "Logan." However, he shared his insights about the upcoming seasons for the series.

He shared that "Narcos" will eventually focus the theme on the modern day drug cartel. Season 4 of the series may be exploring more on the reign of El Chapo in the drug trade. He further noted that he does not know yet if his character as Murphy is to play a role in the upcoming seasons. There is no official date yet as to when "Narcos" Season 3 is to stream on Netflix.
